Raised Garden Beds

Raised beds have several advantages. If you have very wet soil, severe compaction, lack of topsoil, bedrock, or contaminated soil, raised beds can get you above your problem layer giving your vegetables healthy soil to grow in. They are also easier on the back for harvesting. The disadvantages are the costs and the need to import organic matter/soil. If you have excellent soil and don’t mind bending over, you don’t necessarily need raised beds.

• full dimension cedar 2×6 / 2×8
• ferro-cement (form-plastered concrete)
• galvalume with cedar decking cap
• 6-8” cedar rounds, stacked horizontally
